Because of colour of object depends and from its own spectral characteristics, and from type of illumination, the most widespread light sources are standardized by colour temperature.
The colour temperature of light source:
-
characterizes the spectral structure of light source radiation;;
-
it is the base of objectivity of impression from colour of reflecting objects and light sources, and that’s why it defines colour of objects, perceiving by eye by observation in present light.
Scale of colour temperature of widespread light sources:
800K – beginning of visible dark red glow of red-hot bodies,
2000K – light of candle flame,
2360K – vacuum incandescent lamp,,
2800-2854K – gas-filled incandescent lamps with tungsten spiral,
3200-3250K – typical movie-taking lamps,
5500 Ê – day light, direct sun light,
6500 Ê – standard source of white day light, it is similar to the middle day sun light,
7500 Ê – day light with big portion of dispersed from clean blue sky,
10000 Ê – colour of the source with “endless temperature”.»
Typical ranges of light temperature of modern “energy saving” fluorescent lamps with multilayer luminophor are given below::
2700 - 3200 – warm white, light with such colour temperature is similar to incandescent lamp light, it creates the atmosphere of comfort and security, it uses mainly for home lighting;
4000 - 4200 – neutral white, soft white light, it is perfectly for office lighting;
6200 - 6500 – cool white, it uses for office and industrial lighting.
